Gallery Automation and Cultural Geo-Mapping Engine

The Challenge

A cultural institution needed to digitise and catalogue thousands of works spanning centuries, automate ticketing and visitor analytics, and build a public-facing discovery engine that connects cultural assets across an entire geographic region. Existing tools were siloed, manual, and could not handle the cross-institutional data relationships the project required.

What We Built

We built a dual system. Internally: an automation platform that handles cataloguing, metadata enrichment, ticketing, and visitor analytics, reducing manual cataloguing time by an order of magnitude. Externally: a public geo-mapping engine that ingests collection data from multiple institutions, plots cultural landmarks, exhibitions, and events on an interactive map, and enables geographic discovery of cultural assets across the region. Both systems share a unified data layer, so updates propagate instantly from internal catalogue to public interface.

The Result

Cataloguing throughput increased 10x. The geo-mapping engine now operates as a regional cultural resource used by the public, researchers, and partner institutions. Internal operations consolidated from five separate tools to one platform.

Architecture

Our technical approach.

Every system we build runs on our adaptive three-tier compute architecture. Operations dispatch automatically between CPU, Web Workers, and WebGPU compute shaders based on dataset size and device capabilities.

Sensitive data stays on-device. Our hybrid CPU/GPU architecture processes locally via Web Workers and client-side GPU, eliminating cloud dependencies and round-trip server transfers entirely.
